Friends, foodies, chocolate connoisseurs and beer drinkers..

If any of you fancy an autumn break what better place to indulge in some of our favourite things than Belgium. Belgium is one of the best in the world for chocolates, beer, moules & frites so come and join us for a weekend visit. Last October we went to Brussels so this year we are off to Bruges.

Brussels is really easy to get to on the Eurostar from London/Ashford as well as low flight fares from regional airports. See www.eurostar.com
for great deals on train & hotel packages. NB if you are able to stay 3 nights many hotels offer the 3rd night free. Trains from Brussels to Bruges leave every 30 minutes & take about an hour, the price of your Eurostar tickets includes journeys to any other Belgium station you do not have to get an extra ticket for this part of the journey.

Lots of the things we might want to see & do, such as the Chocolate Museum & visiting as many or the 42 chocolate shops as we can fit in are located in the historic city centre so it would be best to book a hotel within the cities ring road so that everything is in walking distance. There are lots in the area so you should find one to suit your own budget, you can use multimap to list the hotels in the area or use the hotels section on www.eurostar.com

For those of you who are beer as well as chocolate fans there is a bar called the Erasmus which has 300 beers & a restaurant where most of the dishes on the menu include beer in the recipe. For the non-beer drinkers the bar is well stocked with lots of other things too, including chocolate gin! There is also a Brewery for us to visit called De Halve Maan.

Nearer the time I'll post a rough guide for what we might do on which days & where we can meet-up.

So if you can join us for even part of the weekend of 29th August it will be great to meet up with you there. As we will all be responsible for booking our own transport & hotels there is no need for minimum or maximum numbers so feel free to invite other friends along too.
